hmm. you definitely confuse me sometimes.

thanksgiving break…has been interesting. not much fanfare at our house, just a late lunch and late dinner, but at least it was together with family. i haven’t had a meal with the whole family in a pretty long time, i think.

looks like tomorrow’s going to be hectic. sister wants to do black friday shopping and i kinda want to head out, so i think we’re waking at some early hour to just…do stuff. i dunno…i just want a laptop, hard drive and piano keyboard, but most of those i’ll probably end up getting online and not at the mall.

also csc reunion is tomorrow, though its location’s been moved, this time to majestic buffet in wayne. man. doesn’t feel too long ago since last reunion.

so i got this fortune cookie a day or so ago that said something like, “you’re heading the right direction.” some higher being has a sense of humor, i see.

time flies so quickly it’s almost surreal.

funny how things work sometimes.

so after a massively unsuccessful study attempt at the library (tried to get work done and instead got a few more hours of sleep) i went to the dining hall, and after i’d sat down at some table to eat, a guy i know from badminton came and sat down opposite me. this guy is kind of erratic, both at badminton and in general, and because of that plus some other things he’s more often than not the subject of some jokes. he also happens to be the guy who broke one of my racquets and (in)directly caused the deaths of a few other racquets.

so this guy invites himself into the seat opposite me, which probably isn’t the best idea given my less-than-joyous mood (but if he could take hints he wouldn’t be him i guess), and starts up conversation. or i start up conversation, i don’t remember. whatever it is, we end up having a discussion on various things, some of it centering on what he could do better in badminton and how it transfers over to life in general. it was a pretty friendly chat (we get along well in general anyway), and i guess i’d never met him in an environment where we didn’t have other stuff to focus on. just goes to show, people can be pretty different in different environments.

badminton and life philosophy…ha. while we were talking, he pointed out a thing or two he noticed about me–some things, it’s hard to see unless other people point them out.

walking in the rain to and from the apartment, wished it could’ve washed away troubles.

i’d say that this visit to the library to try to do work was an abysmal failure. what i got wasn’t work done – i got something like 4 hours of on-and-off sleep.

hahaha..

although this is around the time i set my alarms for, after dragging myself up and checking email, i just want to duck back out of reality and go sleep a lot longer.

whaat…interesting.

“Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.”

I was so tired all of Friday, was half-asleep during work, went to badminton practice, then rushed to catch a train back home for an early-morning appointment on Sat.

Not only did I fall asleep on the train, but this time I slept past Secaucus Junction and woke up in Penn Station NYC. So…ran out of the train, spoke with a conductor, who directed me to a train departing for Dover, which would stop first at Secaucus.

I did end up getting home, albeit maybe an hour later than planned.

Gotta go to sleep soon, eye-doctor appointment at 8…checking out contact lenses –.

So tonight at around 10:50pm, almost all the lights suddenly went out during badminton. Apparently there was some kind of power outage…?

We went and got bubble tea, which helped. Maybe smoothies weren’t the best idea in this weather, but still.

I’ve been so tired these last few days.

Earlier today in Comparative Politics class, some guy comes into the auditorium while the professor is lecturing, carrying a few packs of some canned drinks on his shoulder, and loudly says something like, “I’ve got a delivery of Red Bull here for a…[checks a sheet of paper]…_____ ____.” He goes up the aisle and drops off the two big packs of Red Bull and as he’s leaving he’s like, “Sorry professor.”

Professor [stern]: Hey. That…that, is not a good idea.
Guy: Sorry professor. [leaves]
Professor [turns to class]: So sometimes you’ve got to put on your game face. That was my game face. Like sometimes my son* will do something crazy and I just want to laugh, but I have to put on my game face and tell him ‘You can’t do that.’ You guys will understand once you’re an uncle, aunt, mom, dad.

*Prof’s son is around 7 yrs old, Japanese mom and Caucasian dad (I don’t remember which ethnicity but his last name is ‘Peters’).

omg how is it 4am already?

writing a lengthyyy email to badminton club members…so much for sleeping before 3.

gotta drag myself out of bed at 9 to grab breakfast, new id badge for ROAR, and then volunteer an hour. it’s starting to look like i’m gonna skip breakfast…again.

one meal a day can’t be good for me.

5:31am edit.
darn badminton email. darn time-sensitive content.

current rutgers mini-crises

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you see the words “current Rutgers mini-crises”? This may surprise some of you, but this time I don’t mean (un)expected tuition hikes or being ruscrewed.

Earlier this morning we were informed of a water main bursting or something in Franklin township (I assume that’s nearby), meaning that Busch and Livingston campuses would be having water trouble until the issue is fixed.
We’ve been receiving repeated warnings saying “Please DO NOT drink tap water for at least 24 hours after it is restored”. As if over-chlorinated water wasn’t enough, I found out at like 5:30 on my way to work that the Busch campus center was closing early – normally not a problem, except that I had two meetings scheduled there, one for ROAR at 9 and another for RU Badminton at 10…so then proceeded a long texting/calling session in which we moved the badminton meeting to Rutgers Student Center on College Ave.

Badminton Club…a bunch of things are keeping us on our toes trying to run the club. Right now, we have to clear up certain account troubles from last year, namely that due to some mistakes by last year’s eboard, we entered this year with a NEGATIVE balance.
So…instead of just starting almost from scratch, we’re starting negative –“. Hahaha….interesting stuff.
But it was a productive meeting and if we all do what we’re assigned, we’ll be well on the way to slowly developing the program. Nothing moves forward, though, until we can clear our accounts, so that’s top priority…last year’s president (helping instruct this year) said that last year’s treasurer had some amount of funds, but apparently she hadn’t deposited them. A case of embezzlement…? Haha…we’ll see about that.
Oh, and one of our board members submitted an email of resignation, which works out because now I won’t need to send her a carefully worded email. So a slot’s opened up, I guess.
